On behalf of the European Wound Management Association (EWMA), we would like to invite you to join the 29^th conference held in Gothenburg 5-7 June 2019. The theme of the conference is Person-centred Wound Care. Who is in charge of the wound? 

Our annual conference attracts 4-4,500 participants (nurses, doctors and other health care professionals) from more than 80 countries, who work in wound care. The focus of this year’s conference will be on the importance and continued education of physicians, nurses, physical therapists and other HCPs engaged in wound management. 

A wound is always part of someone's body; a person has to live with it. The patient hereby qualifies for being an important member of the team focusing on wound healing. When all professionals, with their specific competences, work together with the patient, progress can be made and clinical knowledge and competences can be developed and shared. A multidisciplinary inter-professional team and person-centered wound care approach will support the wound healing process, increase patients' quality of life and be more cost effective.

“Sweden has a long history of dermatologists treating chronic wounds. Dermatologists are first in line of diagnosing and treating, for instance venous leg ulcers, atypical ulcers and ulcers with unknown etiology. At EWMA 2019, we have a number of sessions attractive to dermatologists such as atypical wounds, infected wounds and tissue regeneration. In addition, the patient perspective, multidisciplinarity and economic issues within wound healing is covered. The EWMA conference is also one of the best opportunities to network with clinicians, scientists and teachers in the world of wound healing.”

About EWMA and EWMA conferences 

EWMA is a European umbrella organization, linking 53 organizations in 35 countries as well as individuals and groups with an interest in wound care. The primary focus of EWMA is to improve the management of non-healing wounds across Europe, as these types of wounds are still not managed according to existing evidence-based guidelines in many countries. 

The EWMA conference is held every year in May or June in a European city. The participants are an international blend of experts, clinicians and company representatives from Europe as well as the rest of the world. The conference offers a large exhibition (around 150 companies), almost 1000 scientific presentations, network opportunities and sharing of knowledge and experience between international colleagues.
